A Closer Look at the Modern Artworks and Exhibitions at İGA Istanbul Airport

The winning entry of the second annual İGA ART Art Projects Competition, titled Untitled, is preparing to meet visitors at the heart of İGA Istanbul Airport.

The kinetic sculpture, created by artist Hayri Karay, conveys the diversity of Anatolian culture and its ethnographic sociality through a visual dance of light, shadow, and form.

Two massive stainless steel forms rising towards the sky represent the harmony of opposites and the rhythm they create together with their intertwined geometric and organic structures. The sculpture’s rotating parts form a whole that is both contrasting and complementary, reinterpreting Anatolia’s cultural fabric through an abstract narrative.

Scheduled for completion in 2026, the work serves as an impressive stop within the flow of the space, inviting visitors to witness this transforming form.

With his semi-abstract approach, the artist highlights the themes of variability, balance, and contrast in this work. Karay expresses his thoughts on the work as follows
